The last couple of years have been challenging to say the least. When I think about the relatively minor disruptions in my life, I am reminded of the bigger picture.
Many of our members participated in The Gratitude Project which now has over 500 paintings hanging in local healthcare organizations. What a wonderful way to say thank you! As an RN for over 45 years, I understand the hard work and sacrifice of hospital staff, especially during a time of an epidemic. Arizona Art Alliance decided to honor these staff with a display of 6×6 paintings. Each one has a botanical theme meant to say “thank you to hospital staff” with a gift of flowers.
I went through my stash of unframed paintings and found little sections ‘hidden gems’ within several of them. Cropping is your friend! I cropped and painted and mounted them on the panels. It seemed like I was making lemonade out of lemons! Often we get overwhelmed by the big picture and forget to notice the small but powerful moments in our lives, whether it’s a successful portion of a painting or a friend who goes out of their way to help you. These are the moments that we cherish.
Thanks to members of the Board and Committee Chairs/Members who go out of their way to help us all.
