About AWA

The Arizona Watercolor Association

Founded in 1960 by professional watercolor artists and instructors, AWA’s purpose is to ‘promote and advance the art of painting in water-soluble media and to promote public awareness and interest in watercolor mediums through education, exhibitions and other organized events’.We have recently updated our bylaws and standing rules to keep up to date in the world of water media.  Accepted work now includes transparent watercolor, gouache, ink, and acrylics.  Members who have had paintings selected by six different jurors into membership exhibitions become Signature Members and are eligible to teach a wide variety of workshops using different styles, techniques, and media.

Join us for meetings on the second Thursday of each month from September – November & January – June.  Our meetings provide an opportunity to network with other artists, learn from live demonstrations, participate in art critiques and become involved with your Arizona Watercolor Association.

To practice any art… is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.” Kurt Vonnegut
